As we've continued toward the actual manufacturing of the carbon riser we had to make a couple last minute changes. First we've decided to launch the Adcock in both right and and left handed models. Originally we were going to release just the right handed version at the start but we wanted to be able to take care of our left handed customers as well, so both versions are going to be available.

Next, we've eliminated all the accessory inserts. The riser will still accept a plunger for both shooting off the shelf and off an elevated rest, but the bushings for sights, side quivers, and stabilizers have been eliminated. When you build carbon risers tolerances change and with this compact 14" riser we needed to make decisions that would result in the best overall performance and shooting experience. On a riser of this size there wasn't the room needed for the bushings and since most longbow shooters don't use them anyway, we think it's the right choice to make.

Stay tuned...

Here's a glimpse of what the GrizzlyStik Adcock longbow is going to look like unstrung. We're still waiting on the all-carbon risers but the pictures give you a good idea of what to expect. It has been tough for us to wait, but it has certainly been worth it! Each facet of the production is not moving forward until it's right on. With this bow it's not going to be "close counts" it's going to be right. We keep thinking how nice it's going to be for us to be able to offer a bow specifically designed to cast our heavy tapered GrizzlyStiks hard. It's all about momentum for us and this bow when combined with our GrizzlyStik arrows and Broadheads is going to be one heavy hitting system!

We've been testing a few of our favorite string materials too and it looks like Brownell's "Astroflight" with their "Crown" serving is going to be the materials we use in our Flemish strings for the Adcock. Astroflight is very low stretch, very fast, AND, very quiet. Perfect for a bow that is designed for the hunt.

We'd like to thank everyone for their patience. We're almost there! We expect to start taking delivery of our first bows by mid to late summer. We're going to fill the pre-orders on a first-come first-served basis so if you've been wanting to get in line, now's the time. The standard limbs will be +/- 2# but we're looking at offering an exact weight option for a modest fee.

Initially the Adcock will be available in right-hand only. As soon as we get the ball rolling and decide that we don't have any tweaking to do of the riser we'll get the left hand risers in production.

This is very exciting for us. Our first bow! Next will be the GrizzlyStik ILF carbon recurve and then a GrizzlyStik all-carbon compound.

The Jim Belcher riser drawings...

As promised, here are the riser drawings from Jim Belcher. It wasn't an easy decision, re-designing the riser at this stage of the development, but we're sure glad we did. Jim incorporated everything we asked for, his design is fantastic. She's cut past center and there are two plunger ports. One for shooting off the shelf and one for shooting off an elevated rest. From the elevated rest there's plenty of clearance, even for Blazer vanes. We've decided to go with Jim's grip as well. After trying one out, we decided that his longbow grip fits your hand just right and we believe it will enhance the natural point ability of this bow.

Remember, this riser is going to be carbon so the final product will look even better than the drawings.

Thanks Jim! We couldn't have done it without you.

Jim Belcher is re-designing our riser!
We decided we wanted a slim, sleek riser so we asked Jim Belcher, owner of Sky Archery, to help us with the design and he agreed. Jim is a talented bow designer and and hard-core bowhunter. He understands the idea behind casting heavy arrows hard as you can see by his choice of weapons in the picture above. We're pleased to have his input on our bow. We want our new GrizzlyStik Adcock to be the best hunting bow it can be and with Jim's help we believe we're finally there. We wanted to have the bow available by now, but we just can't settle for less than the best. Jim's new riser design is the final piece of the puzzle. We'll get pictures or drawings up as soon as we get them from Jim.

We're almost there! The riser has been approved and it's just what were looking for. We incorporated bushings for everything you might want to add like; plungers, sights or an ATA style bow quiver, 1/4" x 20 side quivers, and stabilizers/bow fishing reels. The limbs should be ready soon too, that means the first official production bow off the line will be in our hands shortly. We can't wait to shoot and test the final product.

Here's a sneak preview of the carbon riser for the Adcock longbow. As you can see it's a conceptual drawing, but this is what we're shooting for. The riser will be solid black and the grips will be interchangeable. It's coming along. It won't be long and we'll have more prototypes to test. This one will not be released until we're satisfied that it's the best bow we can build.

We've been testing the GrizzlyStik Adcock and we thought you'd like to see some of the video clips we have of the process. We're really putting this bow through the ringer so we can offer you the best hunting longbow ever. We're confident that with the research and development team we have in place this bow is going to be nothing short of amazing. Stay tuned...

We just got back from a bow testing session in Korea and we're excited to see how everything is coming along. The archery World Championships are in session from the first to the tenth of September so we have to wait for that to end. Once everyone gets back from that, the engineers will finalize our blueprints and start building the riser moulds. That means we should be able to start building bows by the first of December.
On average our bows will have a six to eight week turn around time.
Once we have the final blueprints we'll be able to get the price figured out. Then we'll start accepting orders!

This is where we are now...

  • The bow pictured above is our latest prototype, the sketch next to it is the first conceptual drawing of how the carbon riser will look.

  • Carbon riser (the only carbon riser in the traditional hunting world) and we plan to keep the riser solid, not a skeleton. That way it will still have a traditional look and feel, but it will be constructed of modern materials.  The riser will be cut past center and the deepest point of the dish in the grip will be directly under the highest point on the shelf. That will help eliminate any torque. A hunting bow should be easy to point and be as torque free as possible and that's what we're shooting for.

  • We are testing the limb design with foam core and carbon vs hardwood and carbon to see which one is better. In other words, we're trying different materials to maximize the efficiency of the new limb design and we'll produce the limbs that perform the best for a hunting bow.

  • The riser will come with several different interchangeable grips to fit all hand sizes and shooting styles. Initially we'll offer a low, medium, and high grip. We may add more later but the grips will be made from materials that you can reshape on your own if you want to customize the fit to your own hand.

  • Draw weights will be from 40 to 75+ LBS.

  • We do not have a final price yet.  Overall cost is still in flux due to testing different materials.***

Bow Overview

O.L. Adcock is well known for his world class flight shooting equipment. His bow and arrow designs have dominated the sport since 2005. In other words, O.L. knows limb efficiency. That’s why we turned to him to design a bow around our GrizzlyStik arrows and broadheads. We asked him for a bow that would cast a heavy arrow hard. Of course he did that, but that wasn't good enough for O. L., he designed us a bow that may very well be the most efficient ever. Not only does it cast a heavy arrow hard, it casts ANY arrow hard! As a matter of fact, the tests show it out-shoots most recurve bows! The GrizzlyStik Adcock longbow is screaming fast, smooth, and stable. When you imagine the ultimate bow for big game hunting, picture the GrizzlyStik Adcock.

Deciding who would manufacture our new bow was not easy. We looked everywhere and finally selected Win & Win Archery. Why? Because Win & Win bows have rocked the world in target and Olympic competition for years! The owner, Park Kyung Rae, has archery in his blood. He’s one of the most successful World Championship and Olympic archery coaches ever. Under his guidance, the South Korean national team became the most dominate force in the archery world. Win & Win bows capture more medals each year, including individual gold won by Viktor Ruban in Beijing 2008.

With that kind of precision and attention to detail we couldn't go wrong. The new GrizzlyStik Adcock longbow is the first bow ever developed around an arrow and broadhead system. With that in mind, we believe it will be the perfect longbow for serious big game bowhunting. Our slogan has become, “When You’re Ready for Bigger Things.” The fact of the matter is, if you truly are ready for bigger things, we’Ave got you covered. When you take to the field with the complete GrizzlyStik system, our bow, our arrows, and our broadheads, you are ready for anything that moves!

The GrizzlyStik Adcock will be available in 62”, 64”, and 66”. They won’t be ready for shipment until sometime in 2010.
